Self-Discipline = Self-Love

Last summer I read “The 5 am Club” by Robin Sharma. So many great nuggets in this one! It was told in a story format, rather than a step by step “how-to” guide for self-mastery.

Self-discipline = self-love.

Procrastination is a form of self-hatred.

Does this ring true for you? Or trigger self-defense?

In real life, you can’t just “buckle down” on your health and fitness to the exclusion of all other things, right?

You have your work, your family, your commitments, your can’t just drop them all.

No matter what you’re working on to improve your life or circumstances, you will need self-discipline.

My focus will be your emotional, mental and physical health. They’re all connected, and how you feel in one area affects all of the rest.

From the book (not verbatim)…

You can’t live your legacy, leave your mark, be a light, do great work in this world if you’re DEAD.

A bit blunt for sure. But it is true.

If we go with a slightly less blunt version of this, you can’t shine brightly and live your best life if your health is in the crapper and you feel like a slug.

EVERYONE wants to feel healthy and have amazing experiences in life. 

NOT everyone is willing to take action toward that desire, though.

Another nugget from the book…

You want to feel better, look better, live better.

This, I can help you with!

BUT, you will need to be willing to be a little UNCOMFORTABLE. You need to be ok with not being perfect, and things feeling “messy”. 

Are you ok with that?

First, you will be deconstructing old mindsets and habits that are keeping you stuck.

Then, we will take action steps to build new ones. 


Once you reach automaticity, which is spoken a lot about in this book, your new habits and mindset become WHAT YOU DO. 

You don’t have to think about it anymore. Wouldn’t that be awesome? 

Make a list of all of the characteristics of your best self. Picture her. She is your true self. The one who feels loved, safe, empowered and worthy.

What does she do? What does she look like? Be realistic. If you’re 45, don’t picture yourself at 25. 

How does she speak to herself? What does she do when she gets up in the morning? How does she speak to others? What does she say yes to and what does she say no to?

It will become easier to face your fears and overcome resistance to change when you are aware of your true self.

She’s there! She is capable, equipped, and worthy.
